The wax, the artificial fragrance, the wicks and sometimes even the weird little container sented candles come in can all make you sick : (
You can either take my word for it or do your own research, but please for the health of your family just stop using them.
Have no fear, without Yankee Candle your house will not smell like a high school gym locker or the dirty side of a camel. We have you covered. To keep the mood up this article will focus on the positive, fun, and imaginative ways you too can make your home your sacred scented palace.
Essential Oils are amazingly powerful.
Essential Oils will make your home smell lovely while offering some amazing therapeutic benefits to all who live there. When it comes to essential oils, remember you will be inhaling them so you want something pure and free of synthetics.
I have done a lot of research on essential oil companies. There are many companies selling oils. I found a few that were okay, fewer that were really good, I narrowed my search down three oil companies before making my choice to go with a company called doTerra, which means gift of the Earth.
You will want a diffuser. I have the doTerra Petal Diffuser, It holds 3/4 cup of water and about 3-4 drops of essential oil. The diffuser stays cool, and projects the oils and water into the air as very small particles. The Petal diffuser has settings for 1, 2 or 4 hours of run time and it has a soft light you can turn on or off. It is very simple to use.
Now the best part, the oils!!! You can try different combinations of oils in you diffuser, it is so fun. It is bed time at my house right now so I have two drops of Lavender and one drop of Ylang Ylang, ooh it is so nice.
Example and sample of oils available and the benefits of diffusing them in your home:
- Lavender is calming, relaxing, and supports a restful night sleep. So many people are having trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. I find Lavender invites me to fall into a deeper more comfortable sleep.
- Frankincense induces feelings of relaxation, satisfaction and overall wellness.
- Oregano in the diffuser helps maintain healthy respiratory function.
- Peppermint promotes healthy respiratory function and clear breathing.
- Lemon elevates mood.
- Wild Orange uplifts mood and energy levels.
- Melaleuca (aka Tea Tree) Protects against environmental and seasonal threats.
Ylang Ylang calming and relaxing, offers antioxidant support.
Essential oils are also available in blends:
- OnGuard, one of my very favorites for smell and purpose. OnGuard is a protective blend it purifies the air, supports healthy immune function, and protects against environmental threats. OnGuard features a combination of Wild Orange, Clove Bud, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary Essential Oils.
- InTune, what I imagine heaven smells like, is a blend of Amyris, Patchouli, Frankincense, Lime, Ylang Ylang, Hawaiian Sandalwood and Roman Chamomile. This blend enhances and sustains a sense of focus. InTune supports efforts of those who have difficulty paying attention and staying on task.
- Whisper, a magnificent blend of Patchouli, Bergamot, Hawaiian Sandalwood, Rose, Vanilla Extract, Jasmine extract, Cinnamon, Cocoa extract, Labdanum, Vetiver, and Ylang Ylang. Promotes calming emotions throughout the day, I wear this as perfume, not because my emotions are out of whack but because I love the smell.
Those are a few of my favorites, depending on my mood this list can change at anytime, they all smell so divine.
I hope you are able to get some amazing value from reading this article. I also hope you see that essential oils not only make your home smell wonderful but they provide a wellness aspect to your lifestyle.
